Technology is all about solving challenges and making life easier – or at least it should be! And challenges create opportunities – to learn and to grow, to become more resilient, stronger, and aware.

That’s why we’re starting a new weekly feature on the EventTechGuide where we’ll offer solutions and start discussions around every day challenges that planners face – both big and small. And we thought we’d kick off our feature by taking on some of the challenges from that PCMA survey. Here’s a great one:

Challenge – Higher expectations for the meetings professional to increase technology and programming while also reducing the budget – new technology that staff want to use sometimes increases expenses.

And heres’ a solution from Michael Doane at CadmiumCD:

“There’s a misconception that more tech requires a bigger budget. It’s just not the case. Be creative in how you use technology. Identify sponsorship opportunities (or ask your vendor for suggestions) and defer the costs to the companies that support you. Digital tools provide much more expansive avenues for revenue than print materials ever could.”

We hope you’ll follow along as we start discussions around these topics. Feel free to visit EventTechGuide and join the discussion!
